I need to lose 50 pounds. I am 5' 9" and at the time of creating this blog, October 14, 2012, I am 238.8 pounds and my blood pressure is 182/118. I need to lose the weight to reduce my blood pressure and be healthier. I started cutting back on cigarette smoking in March of 2010 when I was 205 pounds. At that time I was 20 pounds heavier than my ideal weight of 185 pounds. I completely quit smoking on September 1, 2011 when I weighed 220 pounds. Since then I've packed on another 18 pounds. On September 1, 2012, the one year anniversary of quitting smoking, I declared that I would lose 50 pounds. 44 days later I'm nearly the same weight. I've now decided the best way to lose the weight and lower my blood pressure will be to make the commitment and hold myself accountable to the entire world by journaling about my progress online.
